Peter

I have read your reply to dancingrl and I believe you have tried to be helpful rather than political. However, with due respect, I don't think you have a full understanding of what knowledge means with respect to dancing.

Dancingrl said that many dancers are not comfortable being judged by people who have not danced as well as they are dancing.

You and Adwiz don't seem to be concerned about the dancing expertise of a judge. That is your opinion. It is not mine and I'm sure most readers will not agree with you. In my view Peter's concept of knowledge is the cause of this difference of opinion.

Peter says it is an assumption that you judge (ie see things and know things) at the same level as you dance. He says this assumption is definitely wrong. No Peter the concept is definitely right! (It may not be the way the person dances today but has danced at the level perhaps when he was much younger)

Your statement that most couples already know and see more than what they can dance on the floor shows where you are coming from.  Because someone has read and remembered a statement in a book or repeated what a top coach has told them does not mean they "know" it or understand it. For example many dancers know they should lower on a particular step but they do not do it properly. They do it very poorly as beginners; they do it better as national amateur class and do it much better as international level competitors.

We all know people who can talk a great dance. Knowledge is more than talking. Who are all the great ballet teachers? Former star performers. It is the same in all dance forms. It is only IDSF who are trying to dismiss this and say it doesn’t matter in dancesport.  Probably because nearly all the past champions are in the WDC.

You asked who does Gozzoli think is good enough to judge his dancing? The answer is easy. Go to Blackpool next month, my friend. Look at the judging panel. How many champions will you see?  I'll tell you one thing, you will not see a judge who has not been a great dancer. That is what gives Blackpool credibility. That is what is knowledge.

Dancingrl has every right to be concerned if she is judged by people who themselves have never reached the level she is dancing at.

Sunshine2
Well we know from your reply who is the wicked witch with the poison apple!!
I have my Prince and live happy ever after.
You ask  about respect for a champion which one do you mean?
I cannot see anyone here in top 100 of IDSF or Dancesportinfo chart. Thanks to CADA/CDF policy-   A whale in a a pond is sad
Let us hope that those who wish to live and die CADA/CDF feel they have achieved something worthwhile. Time will tell how quickly they are forgotten.
Much better if they had confidence to get out there and dance in all the great OPEN championships like Dutch Open and WDC Am League World Open in Paris  This way they have our respect

to Puppy

I don't think I ever made any derogatory remarks about the crystal leaf panel. The names you listed all seem great to me.

Either you have someone else in mind or  this was just an excuse to list the judges

so why are you disgusing other topics on this particular forum?

you clearly were talking about idsf judging panels comparing to your wdc panel.

this is an idsf panel ... did you get speakless all of a sudden?

@ puppy.  I am a little confused by your logic and thinking- Please can you help me to understand.

You write " idsf judging panels comparing to your wdc panel".

I have not seen that in this topic but I congratulate the organisers for on this occasion giving the CADA members a WDC style panel.  Sadly this does not happen all the time. Maybe though you believe that not one of these people also have a WDC licence?

Are you aware that anyone of these peoúple who adjudicate the WDC Am League World Open  .Championship in Paris would be stripped of their IDSF licence.  How good for dance competitors would such action be?
